Norwegian director Iram Haq’s What Will People Say (Hva vil folk si) received the prize for Best Norwegian Feature 2017 from the Norwegian Film Critics, which was first time awarded 68 years ago.

Best Actress and Best Professional Job

The new prize for Best Actor/Actress 2017, instigated this year, went to Norwegian actress Eili Harboe for her lead performance in Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s Thelma, which also won Norwegian composer Ola Fløttum a Best Professional Job award for the musical score.

Tor Fosse receives Award

The Messenger is an honorary award for a person or organisation, who has enriched film culture by spreading knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm for film, and was given to Norwegian distributor and festival director Tor Fosse, of Tour de Force/Bergen International Film Festival.

What Will People Say

Produced by Maria Ekerhovd for Mer Film, Iram Haq’s second feature has collected awards at the American Film Institute’s AFI Fest in New York, Germany’s Nordic Film Days in Lübeck, France’s Les Arcs European Film Festival and Sweden’s Göteborg International Film Festival, was characterised by the critics as “a film which is as brutal as it is poetic and socially committed.”
